Also known as Forward Deployed Engineer, FDE or Applied AI Engineer - the industry renames this job every few months. The work hasn't changed.
Tel Aviv, Israel · Full-time · Customer-facing
Not a classic backend role, and not AI research. You'll work directly with mid-market companies, get deep into how their operations really run, find where AI creates real leverage - then build, deploy and own the system until it works in production.
Native speakers from many countries. We're looking for native speakers of a range of languages - the role itself is based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Tell us your native language when you apply.
What you'll do
Sit with users and learn how a messy, half-documented process actually runs - then find where AI creates real leverage.
Connect to the systems you don't control: legacy software, ERPs and CRMs, databases and third-party APIs.
Make the architecture calls, write the production code and debug it inside the customer's own environment.
Own each deployment from discovery and scoping through to production - and stay on it until it actually works. On-site with customers when needed.
What we look for
You have both, not one or the other: serious engineering depth and real customer-facing engineering experience.
5+ years as a software, backend, fullstack or platform engineer, building and debugging production systems. You still write production-grade code yourself.
You've delivered technical solutions directly with external customers - as an FDE, applied AI, customer or solutions engineer with significant coding responsibility.
Hands-on production experience with LLMs, agents, tool calling and evals.
You work independently when requirements are incomplete, and move easily between users, stakeholders, architecture, code and deployment.
You care far more about measurable production impact than AI demos or buzzwords.
